Daltokki Whitening Essence Review
Hey Dreamers and Creators!
Ever try a whitening essence/cream? The first time I tried one was early this year. I had gotten some in a Memebox I purchased in the past and decided to try them out. This Doltokki Whitening Essence is one of the 2 that I have. Looking past the rather unappealing designs, I have to say it's really not what I expected.
Daltokki Whitening Essence
100ml,
Product Description: A whitening essence that works to brighten and lighten the skin temporarily. It can be used on its own or mixed with other products like moisturizers, BB creams, sunscreen, etc.
To Use: Take a good amount and apply it onto the desired area. A little goes a long way for this product, so start small. Make sure to apply evenly.
Ingredients: Water, butylene glycol. cyclopenta siloxane, titanium dioxide, glycerine, arbutin, poly methyl methacrylate, talc, polysorbate 60, propylene glycol, gleditsia australis fruit extract, cimicifuga dahurica root extract, angelica dahurica root extract, bletia hyacinthina blub extract, rice bran extract, red bean extract, citrullus colocynthis fruit extract, sodium polyacrylate, diglycerin, C13-14 isoparaffin, polyacrylamide, laureth-7, mica, polyglyceryl-3 methyl glucose distearate, ethylhexyglycerin, triethoxycaprylylsilane, caprylhydroxamic acid, glyceryl caprylate, disodium EDTA, iron oxides, ferric oxide (CI 77491).
Please Do Not use if: you are sensitive to any of its ingredients.
Packaging: I for one am not fond of the packaging. That bunny is more creepy than cute. The essence comes in a pump bottle, making it easy to use. Unfortunately, due to its packaging, you can't tell how much product you have left. The box packaging contains mostly Korean instructions and a Korean ingredients list. I ended up translating it myself. It's still a pain the butt, however, I've done it so many times now it doesn't seem too bad.
Texture: Despite its name, this really isn't an essence at all. It's more like a BB cream. It can be a bit hard to blend, which is why it's suggested to mix the essence with other products.
Scent: I could really do without the scent of this product. It smells like old plastic to me. Not pleasant at all.
Color: It's beige white in color with just a hint of pink.
My Thoughts: I'm not an expert in whitening essences as this was the first one I tried. However, it wasn't what I expected at all. As the name suggests it to be an essence, I sort of expected an essence. Instead, it turns out to be more like a liquidy cream. It kind of feels like a BB cream. The essence embodies the words a little goes a long way. I find that the more you apply this product, the harder it is to blend and look natural. However, if you just apply a little bit at a time, it blends out better and looks more natural. It really does work well in lightening the skin tone and can be a quick temporary fix. While it is a temporary cream, its lasting powder is pretty darn good.
That's not to say this essence/cream doesn't have its downsides. Due to its unpleasant scent, I usually only used it on my body and rarely my face. I also think it's a bit more forgiving on the body than on the face. When applying this essence to the face, it's best to avoid the brows and hairlines because the essence will look chalky and unnatural. It's also best to mix it with a moisturizer before applying it to the face because the essence on its own can feel rather drying. Another thing to note is that the essence can sometimes settle into fine lines. So it is best to moisturize well before using.
I usually use this on my knees for special events and stuff. As my knees are a bit darker than my legs. So if I am wearing a dress, it might look odd. This essence works great at lightening my knees to match my legs. I like to add a bit of this essence to my moisturizer and apply it onto my knees. It's much easier to blend that way and doesn't make it feel dry either.
Pros:
-lightens
-works well with other products
-good lasting power
-good for body and face
Cons:
-can be drying
-unpleasant scent
My Rating: ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ♡
Final Thoughts: This essence isn't perfect but it's not bad either. I don't use whitening essences often, so I imagine this will last me for a long time. I like that I can easily mix it with my moisturizer to apply it. It's formula is long lasting, so I don't have to worry about reapplying. It really does lightens the skin well and can be used for both the body and the face. I think this would be great for people who need a temporary quick fix, like me and my knees.
Would I repurchase this in the future? Not sure yet. I don't really use this product as often as is and I'm working on other ways to lighten my knees to match my legs. So, I don't know if I will need this in the future. However, if I do and I don't find any others that are better, I might look for it again. Do I think this is worth a try? Well, that really depends. If you are looking for a temporary whitening cream that does the job and you need it quite often, then this is worth trying. If you are looking for 1 to use on its own, this might not be the best option. As it can be drying on the skin.
Until next time!
