Goodies From The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Hey Dreamers and Creators!
Not too long ago we went to Universal Studios Orlando and visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Like many tourists, we bought stuff. We usually get shot glasses and unique Christmas tree ornaments for our 'traveling tree'. However, seeing as the Wizarding World of Harry Potter don't carry such muggle like things, we decided to pick up some other stuff instead.
We stayed at one of the on-site hotels and bought their Harry Potter vacation hotel package. Our package comes with 4 night hotel accommodations, 3 days park hopper tickets, breakfast at the Leaky Cauldron, breakfast at the Three Broomsticks, early park admissions, City Walk Party passes, and a special welcome package. We had requested that our package be picked up at our hotel instead of it being mailed to our home. The above picture shows the special welcome package.
The special welcome package contains one stuffed owl. What's unique about it is that this owl's head can turn 360 degrees, which we did not expect. We actually didn't know the head was made to turn 360 degrees and only found out by accident. Our owl is currently stored away because we haven't figured out where we want to put it in the house.
The welcome package also comes with a special letter. Which makes a lot of sense, too bad it can't talk like in the movies.
Anyways, the letter is pretty generic, which is a little disappointing because we were expecting something special and unique to the Harry Potter theme. But, alas, it was just a letter to welcome guests.
The owl and the letter came in this big box that resembles that of a trunk. The printed details are pretty awesome. We had to deconstruct the box in order for it to fit into our suitcase. The box will probably become one of our nik-naks storage since it's too pretty to be thrown out.
We always thought Hermione's time turner is pretty badass and while we never really felt like we needed one at home, we ended up getting one in the end. Although it might not really turn back time, we found the set to be charming and unique. After all, it's not everyday you get to see one of these. (Well, now we see it everyday because we have one but that's not the point.) This is probably the only item from our haul displayed in the house right now because it's too pretty not to. If the set isn't your thing, they also sell time turner key chains as well.
We did a little research before we left and one of the many things mentioned online is to get a wand. However, not just any wand but one of the interactive wands. So, we got one. We really did run around to every interactive station and waved our wand to see what it can do. Sometimes the casting only takes a second, other times, we might mess up and can take up to dozens and dozens of tries. There are some secretive locations as well, but honestly, they aren't really secretive. Usually at each interactive wand location, you'll see a short/long line of people with wands in their hands eagerly waiting for their turn to cast a spell. Kind of takes the fun out of hunting for interactive wand locations, but it can't be helped. There are just too many muggles too eager to explore the wizarding world.
There are plenty of interactive wands to choose from. The one we got is Fleur Delacour's. We actually debated for a long time in terms of which wand we wanted and ended up with Fleur's because we both loved the designs on hers. Aside from the wand, you also get an interactive wand map. The map is dual sided, to show the locations of the interactive stations with one side for each park.
That's all the goodies we got from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It might not look like much, but considering the amount of candy and chocolate we also got from there, which was featured in our sweets haul, we think this bit is more than enough.
We can't wait for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter park to open in California. Spring of 2016 they say. It'll be much closer to us and we can't wait to see the similarities and differences of it. Apparently, the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride will be in 3D and we get to wear quidditch googles! Can't wait to experience that. Plus, all the butterbeer we can have!!
Have you been to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter?
Until next time,
~Michelle & Helen
I hadn't heard of the interactive wands before - now I want one, haha! I'll need to be patient, though. I live in Los Angeles, so I'll just wait for the new park to open and go then rather than booking a trip to Orlando.
ReplyDeleteThe interactive wands are really cool and there's dozens of designs to choose from too! Spring 2016 is not too far away, it'll be here in a blink of an eye~ You'll have lots of fun and don't forget to try the butterbeer!
