Review: February Love With Food Box
Today, I will be unboxing and reviewing the Love With Food Box February edition. This month's theme is Mardi Gras, so every bite in this box is jazzy, funk delicious! I thought it was cute of them to include some beads as well. This box came with 8 different snacks ranging from chocolates and chips to seasoning and hot cocoa. I purchased my first Love With Food box last November and it has been a love and hate relationship ever since. I've yet to receive one box where I love every single one of the snacks included. However, I have discovered a lot of different brands that I might have otherwise never heard of. Which was the whole point of me purchasing Love With Food boxes in the beginning. I knew I wasn't going to love everything, but the few I do really love, I'm glad I found them through Love With Food. In case you are a skeptic and don't know if you want to chance it or not, I'll have information at the end of this review on how you can get a free box to try!
For those who are new to Love With Food, they are a snack subscription company that offers monthly snack boxes. There are 3 types of box subscriptions and the one I have is the Tastings box. It offers 8 or more varieties of snacks per box and for every box you order, they donate 1 meal to hungry children in America. According to their website, they have so far donated 400,757 meals! As of now, they only ship within the US and territories. However, maybe that will change in the future. Let's dig in and discover all the snacks included.
Divine Chocolate Milk Chocolate Mini Pieces
I have never heard of this brand before, but I do love chocolate so I went on ahead and gave it a try. The milk chocolate tastes like most chocolate, so nothing special there. However, I got a little curious and did a little research. Turns out Divine Chocolate is the first ever fair-trade chocolate bar company. Cocoa farmers they work with actually owns a share of Divine's profits. They also get a better deal for their cocoa and even additional income to invest back into their communities. I thought this was pretty cool. Aside from their business model, I also read about the symbols on the chocolate packaging. According to Divine Chocolate's website, the cocoa farmers are proud Ghanaians and these symbols represent their history and culture.
Tony Chachere's Original Creole Seasioning
There's something about seasonings in snack boxes that I just don't like. Don't get me wrong, I love seasonings, but they are not snacks. You can't just pop them in your mouth and eat them plain. They should be included in a seasonings box, or general food box, not snack boxes. Anyways, I'm sure I'll be able to use these 2 small pouches in 1 dish or something. Maybe the next time I make Jambalaya or Gumbo.
Honey Stinger Peanut Butter N' Honey Energy Bar
This energy bar contains 23 vitamins and minerals, plus 5 grams of protein. It definitely gives an energy boost. I have to admit, it tastes pretty good too. It wasn't too filling but just enough to chase away any hungry feelings. I did like the chocolate coating on the bottom of the bar, as it added a touch of sweetness to the overall bar without over powering it.
Dilettante Toffee Crunch TruffleCremes
Ah, truffles. There seems to be one in every box. Not that I'm complaining, because these were actually pretty good. These had toffee and almond bites inside that were delicious. I wish it was in dark chocolate instead of milk, but these milk chocolate ones were pretty good as well. I think these will make great gifts or a little treat for yourself. Plus, they aren't expensive at all.
Monbana Traditional Hot Chocolate
I was not expecting hot chocolate in a snack box. However, I love hot cocoa and think I will like this one as well. I haven't tried it yet because I'm saving it for a cold night. I like that this product contains 32% chocolate and it's also vegan. Can't wait to try it in the future.
Dolcetto Lemon Wafer Bites
These, were delicious. The rich, creamy, lemony center paired with the crispy wafer made it the perfect snack. I loved it. It's delightful and I wish it came in a bigger pouch. These sort of reminded me of those William-Sonoma Meyer Lemon Rolled Wafers. Only it's bite sized. I definitely want to purchase these in the future. They also have chocolate and cookies and cream flavors. Now, if only they'd make some delicious strawberry flavor ones, I'd buy the whole lot!
Snikiddy Baked Mac N' Cheese Puffs
I am picky about Mac N' Cheese, so I knew I was either going to like these or hate these. Well, the verdict is, I don't hate these but I didn't really like them either. I thought it was great that these are gluten free and non-GMO. However, the taste was not the best. They kind of remind me of Cheetos cheese puffs but with a lot less flavoring.
Boulder Canyon Olive Oil Potato Chips
One thing I've learned from past Love With Food boxes is that plain chips might sometimes not taste so plain. So when I saw this in the box, instead of groaning, I was pretty optimistic about it. That is, until I took my first bite. Plain, is how I would describe these chips. Plain, plain, and just plain. I like that it's gluten free, non-GMO, and vegan but that lack of flavoring just totally threw me off. I ended up adding my own seasonings to the chips lol. I did search up their website and found that they have other flavors that sounds interesting, such as hickory barbeque, Parmesan and garlic, and spinach and artichoke. If I end up trying more chips from this brand in the future, I think those flavors would be the ones I want to try.
Final Thoughts: Once again, it's a love and hate relationship with this box. I wonder when, if ever, I'll fall in love with an entire box of Love With Food snacks. I think the clear winner in this box is the Lemon wafer bites. For me, those were delicious and I'd love to purchase more. My least favorites will have to be the kettle chips and Baked Mac N' Cheese. They were both just too bland for my taste. Plus, the flavoring of the mac n' cheese wasn't my favorite either. Although I wasn't expecting seasoning in my snack box, I can at least use them in the future. I will save the hot chocolate for a cold raining night and the energy bar was pretty great. Overall, this box wasn't bad, but it isn't my favorite.
