Review: Innisfree Ampoule Intense Cushion

Review: Innisfree Ampoule Intense CushionHey Beauties~

It's Michelle! Today I am back with a review on Innisfree's Ampoule Intense Cushion. Last week has been tough but Momo is now doing a little better than before. Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes on Instagram

Did you know that as the season changes, your skin type might change as well? This means your skin care products could change to fit the season. So why keep the same makeup routine year round? When a change might be all it needs to keep that flawless look. I took a chance and changed my cushion makeup since I have combination skin type in the winter/spring/fall times and oily skin type in summer, so I thought a change could do some good, and it did. The cushion I am currently using and have been using for the past 4 month is Innisfree's Ampoule Intense Cushion. It promises to keep moisture and dewy-ness for up to 24 hours. Which is perfect for the cold and dry winter seasons and for the cool and windy spring/fall seasons.

Innisfree offers 3 types of cushions which are the Water Glow, Long Wear and Ampoule Intense (their newest addition late last year). I find that the Water Glow would be perfect for spring and fall seasons as it moisturizes and provides a healthy, dewy glow. The Long Wear for summer times as it controls sebum, provides a semi-matte finish so the skin doesn't look oily/shiny, and it provides long lasting coverage. Last but not least, Ampoule Intense for winter seasons as it moisturizes the skin and shields it from the harsh cold and dry winter air. The Ampoule Intense cushion could also be good for spring or fall seasons, as it have some similar properties as the Water Glow cushion.

Ampoule Intense Cushion and outer boxPersonally, I like to change up my skin care routine as the season changes, but this is the first year that I changed my makeup routine as well. Over the years I've learned that my skin type changes as the season changes. In winter times my skin is combination, leaning dry, and if I'm not careful and moisturize well, I'll occasionally have dry patches on my face. In the spring and fall seasons, my skin is in between combination and oily and in the summer time my skin type is just oily. So changing my makeup routine as well as skin care routine can really help to keep my skin looking healthy without worrying about cakey looks or dry patches.

I had just jumped into the cushion trend last year and Innisfree's Ampoule Intense cushion is only the 5th I've tried so far. There are a lot of different cushions out there in the beauty industry and I want to try more of them. When the Ampoule Intense cushion came out last year, I was super excited for it and ordered it right away. Keep on reading to see how well this cushion works!

Ampoule Intense Cushion with its protective seal

My Thoughts: I'm a big fan of Innisfree products. I love their organic and eco-friendly concepts. Their packaging are made out of recycled paper and printed in soy ink. Plus they use mostly natural ingredients in their products. I love a lot of their skincare products and I do like the few Innisfree makeup products I have, so I had a feeling this cushion would be good.

For the Ampoule Intense Cushion, the compact itself is like most cushions. A round, sleek case with a separate section to store the puff and below it the cushion product, plus a built-in mirror. It's a bit smaller than my CODE Glokolor foundation compact and a bit lighter as well, since the packaging is not as bulky. When you first receive the product, it comes with a seal to keep it fresh. Once the seal is removed, it reveals the cushion. Like most Innisfree product, this cushions comes with that signature Innisfree scent. Which is a light herbal scent with hints of green tea and floral notes. It's not strong, at least not to me, and it goes away rather quickly once applied.

Ampoule Intense Cushion

Now, the pros and cons for this product.

Pros:
-moisturizes
-dewy finish
-buildable layer
-easy to blend
-light coverage, can build up to medium
-travel friendly

I purchased the Ampoule Intense Cushion in #21 Natural Beige because in the winter seasons, my skin tone is fairer than summer times. So I thought #21 would suit me better. It turned out to be just a tad lighter but it doesn't look bad at all when applied. Like promised, the cushion provides moisture to the skin when applied and the cool sensation feels really nice and refreshing. It leaves a dewy finish that does not look oily on my skin. If you don't like the dewy look, you can always mattify it with some loose powder. Which is what I am doing now since it's spring and my skin is combo leaning oily. This cushion provides light coverage, however, it is build-able. Although, I'd say at most the coverage would be medium, because any more would look unnatural and possibly cakey. I like that this cushion doesn't accentuate dry patches or pores. Although it doesn't help to minimize the look of pores either. The compact is light and travel friendly, which is a plus.

Cons:
-can settle into fine lines
-does not last 24 hours like advertised
-limited shades

What I didn't like about the cushion is that the product can easily settle into fine lines if you do not use a primer/base. So I always wear a primer/base before I use this cushion. Unlike its advertisement, this cushion does not last for 24 hours in terms of dewyness and moisture. It's more like 6 hours before I needed to do touch ups. Which it's actually not so bad. I also bring my No Sebum Mineral Powder with me so I can touch up on my oily T-zone and keep unwanted shine away. Another issue is the limited shades. There are only 3 color choices for the Ampoule Intense Cushion which are #13 Light Beige, #21 Natural Beige, and #23 True Beige. It would have been really nice if they have more shades than these. The Long Wear cushion also have shade #31 Deep Beige, but that isn't available for the other 2 yet.

Ampoule Intense Cushion on the back of my hand

My Rating: ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

How I use my cushion has changed now that it's spring and my combo skin is leaning towards oily instead of dry. I start off with a base/primer to prevent the Ampoule Intense cushion from settling into any fine lines. Since the cushion have, at most, light-medium coverage, I use my Lioele Dollish Veil Vita BB Cream in Natural Green to cover up redness on my face and add a bit of base coverage. Once that's done, I'll wait a bit then apply my Ampoule Intense cushion. Top it off lightly with the No Sebum Mineral Powder and it's good until the 6 hour touch up mark.

Final Thoughts: Despite the cons, I actually really like this Innisfree cushion. For its price, its got a pretty good formula with some amazing natural ingredients. I usually use it on my work days and it's so easy to slip it into my purse and use it on the go. I really love its buildable coverage and how moisturizing it feels when applied. Sometimes the cushion might seem like it's nearing the end of its life, however, it might actually not be. To check, simply use clean fingers and take out the sponge soaked with the formula, flip it over and re-insert it. If the new side up is pretty dry as well, than the cushion is really almost finished. If the other side is still oozing with the product, than you can still use it. You can do this multiple time until you've used up all the products. I am glad I gave this Ampoule Intense cushion a try and I will most definitely purchase this cushion again in the future!
