Unboxing: Memebox Global #18
Heya!
I know it's not Meme Monday. However, I wanted to share my thoughts on this memebox early. So, the Memebox I will be unboxing today is the Global #18 box. These boxes have been around since Memebox first started, so it's only fair that I give them a try. I purchased the Global #17-19 bundle which costed $75.99 for 3 boxes, so about $25 per box. It's like ordering a 3 month subscription, since each box is shipped on the 24th of that month. While these Global boxes, like any Memebox, can be a hit or miss depending on the person's preference, I still wanted to try them. Didn't want to regret not buying them in case they are amazing. I have to say, like the Global #17 box, Global #18 is a miss for me. It's not totally horrible, because I can at least use some of the products. But nothing really screams interesting at me and there are some products that I know I won't use. Anyways, let's get to the products to see why this is a miss box for me.
If you are new to Memebox, they are a Korean beauty box company that sell non-subscription beauty boxes as well as Korean beauty products. They also have their own line of beauty products as well. Their boxes contain full size and deluxe size products that are shipped straight from South Korea. I wrote a comprehensive Q and A post about them not too long ago, so if you would like more information on Memebox, you can check it out.
60g, $2, Cherry Blossom and Shea Butter
Product Description: A nourishing hand cream formulated by infusing shea butter and cherry blosson extracts. It will leave the hands softer and suppler, plus your hands will smell amazing, all day, like a sweet floral garden. To use, massage the hand cream into clean hands until it's absorbed, reapply when needed.
My Thoughts: Even though I'll always have room for hand creams, especially if they smell good, I really wish Memebox would stop including them in boxes. I have a ton now. Like enough to open my own hand cream shop. Although I share them with my mom, it's still a lot. Especially since I love hand creams with cute packaging, like the Etude House Castle hand creams, and would rather buy those instead of these acrylic paint tube like hand creams. If Memebox wants to include hand creams, fine, but make them cute! By the way, there were 2 random choices for hand creams, the cherry blossom one or Sweet Rose one. I really wanted the Sweet Rose one, but unlucky me, got the Cherry Blossom one.
Dr. MJ Bee Tox Control Cream
55ml, $50
Product Description: Formulated with bee venom, propolis extracts, tea tree leaf water, rosemary extracts, and calendula extracts, this cream will repair and renew the skin. It works to soothe, nourish and rejuvenate damaged skin or stimulated skin by creating a protective moisture barrier over it and retaining skin's moisture and nutrition.
My Thoughts: I am extremely careful with products including bee venom. Although, I've yet to react to the ones I've tried, it's still good to be cautious. While this cream sounds like it could be great, I think I will be giving this one away. Mainly because 1. I don't want to take the chance that my skin could react to it and 2. I already have a lot of creams that I love and need to go through.
PureSmile Animal Point Pad
17ml, $1, Guava
Product Description: A point mask pad for nourishing and soothing dry or trouble areas on the skin. It's formulated with a rich blend of guava extracts, vitamin E, hyaluronic acid, and natto gum. To use, apply it onto the specific area after you've cleansed and toned the face. Leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes before removing and patting the essence in for full absorbency.
My Thoughts: A $1 item, that's cheap Memebox. I can't see when I would uses these, cause you know if I'm going to spend 10 minutes wearing a small pad like this I might as well wear an entire sheet mask. I guess I could save these for when I run out of sheet masks? Although, that's not going to happen any time soon. Shame on you Memebox for including a $1 item and calling it full size. There was also 2 choices for this product, the Guava or Pinapple.
Touch By Lee Kyung Min Extreme Shield Master
2.2ml, $46
Product Description: Designed by a famous Korean creative director, this Extreme Shield Master is an ampoule perfect for colder and drier seasons. It's enriched with essence type oil components for an instant moisture surge. This ampoule will work to effectively calm the skin and moisturize dry patches on the skin. Use the provided silicon brush on the product to apply the ampoule over dry and flaky spots.
My Thoughts: This is an rather expensive product, although it's rather small as well. It's about the size of a regular sharpie, maybe just a little longer. Although the brush head itself takes about 1/4 of the product size, so there's really not much product in there. I rarely get dry spots on my skin since I have oily/combination skin. So I will be giving this one away. I wish Memebox provided more information on this product, because I tried searching for it but had no luck.
Purederm Shower Jelly
100g, $6, 02 Cooling Mint
Product Description: A jelly textured shower gel with a gentle and non-stimulating formula. It includes a bubble net to help create bubbles by lathering. This jelly shower gel works to was away dirt, oil, and impurities on the skin leaving it clean and fresh. It also leaves a subtle fragrance to refresh your sense. To use, take an appropriate amount of the shower jelly and place it into the bubbling net. Add water and lather well then gently massage it all over the box. Rinse off after.
My Thoughts: Cute, there's a 'do not eat!' sign. This product also had 2 random choices, the Brightening Milk or the Cooling Mint. Once again, I didn't get the one I wish I got. But what can you do. Great that it's jelly textured, however, that's nothing new since Lush also had products like that. My friends were crazy over it, however, I wasn't really interested in the Shower Jellies. So this one doesn't really interest me as well. I will probably use it once my current body wash run out. Will report back on it.
Derma Lift Intensiderm Aqua Rich Cream
15ml x 3each, sample sizes
Product Description: A gentle moisture rich facial cream formulated to soothe and repair damaged skin. It works to prevent further stimulation or damage by creating a protective moisture barrier on the skin. It will nourish and replenish the skin, perfect for the winter season. To use, take an appropriate amount and spread it evenly over clean face. Gently massage it in for full absorbency.
My Thoughts: Not really a product for my skin, since it's designed for dry/damaged skin. I did try this and I find it just a bit too rich for me. I will be giving this to my mom for her to try, since she has normal to dry skin and might find these more useful than I do.
Final Thoughts: This is not a good box for me. Of the 6 products, one was sample sizes, that wasn't for my skin at all. Three were under $10 all together, the hand cream, point masks, and shower jelly. I means adding their value together, it comes out as $9. O.O All three of those aforementioned cheap products were random choices and two of them came in scents that wasn't what I hoped for. The point pads, I really didn't care for. Now it comes down to the $46 Ampoule and the $50 Bee Tox cream. Both of which I am sure are over priced and both of which I won't be using at all. As you can see this box is a disaster. It might have been good for some people, but for me the usability just isn't there and the value isn't there as well. The quality might be there for some individual products, but overall it's just bad.
I have one more Global box coming to me and that is the Global #19. I hope for the best and if it's still horrible, at least I'll know that I won't be purchasing any more Global boxes in the future.
Until next time and dream big!
